About Us

SAORI Forever is the passion project of Kathy Mackenzie, a life-long maker and NYS licensed clinical social worker. Kathy was awarded a #ChangeMaker grant from the Pollination Project for her project to use Saori weaving as a way to connect with individuals challenged with neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and those on the autism spectrum.

Kathy loves teaching and was awarded the "Teacher of Excellence Award" by Hofstra University for her work developing a series of classes for their Professional Website Development Certificate program. The goal of the program was to prepare individuals for entry level positions in Web design and this program helped many Long Islanders transition to new careers.

An avid knitter, Kathy collaborated with leaders in the yarn and knitwear industry including Vogue Knitting Magazine, Tahki Yarns, Berrocco Yarns, Knitter's Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens Magazine, and House of White Birches.
