Mindfulness

A daily practice to promote relaxation and creativity.

This program helps participants increase calmness, inner strength, and reduces stress. Throughout the course, mindfulness is used to relax the body and increase awareness. Participants learn to recognize tension and discomfort and then develop a toolkit of approaches to restore balance and enhance well-being. These techniques include breath work, mindful listening, body scanning, mindful walking and mindful eating.

Using the Learning to Breathe curriculum developed by Patricia C. Broderick, PhD, participants will be guided through the following:

B - Body - Listen to your body

R - Reflections - Thoughts are just thoughts

E - Emotions - Surf the waves of your emotions

A - Attention - Attend to the inside and the outside

T - Tenderness - Take it as it is and learn to be kind to yourself.

H - Habits - Healthy mind habits to reduce stress and increase inner strength

Each participant will receive a workbook that they can use to further their exploration outside of class.
