Circular Weaving Workshop
Reduce stress - increase focus - learn a new way to relax and have fun.
Participants will learn to weave in the round using a recycled CD as a loom. The finished project can be hung as an ornament or, depending on the yarns chosen, be used as a coaster.
Participants will learn:
- warping the loom
- tabby stitch
- changing colors
- weaving in ends
No weaving experience required. All materials will be supplied for use during the workshop.
Weaving can be beneficial in so many ways:
- because it simultaneoulsy uses both the dominant and non-dominate hand, weaving promotes hand-eye coordination, visual tracking, and awareness of spacial concepts
- slow, repetive motion promotes relaxation
- improves fine motor skills and strengthens muscles used for pincer grip
- improves focus and sustained concentration
