Weaving on a Frame Loom
Reduce stress - increase focus - learn a new way to relax and have fun.
Students will learn the basics of weaving on a table top frame loom. After warping their loom, students will explore different yarns and fabrics that can be used to create their individul project. A brief history of weaving will be shared as the students work on their projects
Participants will learn:
- warping the loom
- tabby stitch
- changing colors
- weaving in ends
No weaving experience required. All materials will be supplied for use during the workshop.
Weaving can be beneficial in so many ways:
- because it simultaneoulsy uses both the dominant and non-dominate hand, weaving promotes hand-eye coordination, visual tracking, and awareness of spacial concepts
- slow, repetive motion promotes relaxation
- improves fine motor skills and strengthens muscles used for pincer grip
- improves focus and sustained concentration
