Eye of the Gods (Ojo de Dios) Workshop
Reduce stress - increase focus - learn a new way to relax and have fun.
The Eye of the Gods craft originated from the Huichol Indians in Mexico's Sierra Madre region. Using simple materials, they created beautiful gifts that they hoped would bring good fortune and protection. In our workshop, we will use a variety of yarns to create colorful keepsake ornaments
No weaving experience required. All materials will be supplied for use during the workshop.
Weaving can be beneficial in so many ways:
- because it simultaneoulsy uses both the dominant and non-dominate hand, weaving promotes hand-eye coordination, visual tracking, and awareness of spacial concepts
- slow, repetive motion promotes relaxation
- improves fine motor skills and strengthens muscles used for pincer grip
- improves focus and sustained concentration
